Your photographer’s holiday gift guide 2020 is here. Let’s be honest, the holidays aren’t just for kids. We all like to splurge a little and ask for those special gifts for ourselves too. Or if you are like me, possibly “gift” them to yourself!
As a passionate photographer, there are so many shiny things that I wish could sneak into Santa’s sleigh. We are all kids at heart, right?! I’d love to share with you some of my favorite things and also add a few items on my wish list this year.
I’d love to hear what you are loving this year in the comments below.
My Favorite Photography Gifts for 2020
#1 Think Tank Sling Backpack $89
I am pretty streamlined when I shoot my sessions and try to keep minimal gear on me. The sling backpack helps me to carry some extra lenses, batteries and cards for emergencies. It’s also great for keys and a phone. This sling bag is slim and versatile while I shoot.
#2 Purple Relic Explorer Camera Bag – $100
This is my go to camera bag. I use it for home sessions or when I’m going somewhere that I can put down my things. The quality is beautiful and the compartments work perfect for all my extras I like to carry. It’s big enough to fit one camera with lens and an extra lens.
#3 Sigma 35mm F1.4 ART Lens $675
Whether it’s photographing my family at home, doing a film or photographing a newborn, my 35mm is one of the most versatile lenses for storytelling.
#4 Sigma 85mm F1.4 ART Lens $1049
Well known for the amazing background composition, dreamy bokeh and beautiful sharpness, this has long been a dream lens of mine.
#5 Canon RF 35mm 1.4 Macro STM Lens $499
With my recent upgrade to the Canon R5 (like so many others making making the jump to mirrorless), all the good accessories are fresh in my mind! Knowing the beauty of the RF glass, I know this is a must have this winter!
#6 Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R $100
A great accessory to have during the conversion to mirrorless is this lens adapter. It will allow you to use your new shiny mirrorless camera with your standard EOS lenses seamlessly.
#7 Wireless Remote Control – $22
As a photographer, it’s so important to make sure you are in the photos. A wireless remote is the best way to do so seamlessly. Shoot Nikon? Here is a great option for only $18.
#8 JOBY GorillaPod 3K Flexible Mini – $48
Looking for a flexible and versatile support system for your camera? The Joby GorillaPod allows you to precisely control the direction and angle of your equipment with a quick release function.
White balance is everything in photography. If you ever struggle nailing it in camera – try an expo disc! An expo disc will read the light and make the adjustments needed to nail WB every single time.
#10 Tiffen Variable Neutral Density Filter 82mm – $174
For any of you film makers out there, this is a fantastic addition to your lens to help you shoot in more difficult lighting conditions without having to shut down your aperture or up your shutter speed. *Make sure it fits your lens of choice.
#11 HoldFast Gear Money Maker Two-Camera Harness – $219
A holster is an easy way to safely and quickly switch cameras during a session in a comfortable position. HoldFast is a high quality product with some beautiful options for every photographer.
#12 Shultz Photo School Membership – $10/month
Invest in you and your art. As artists and photographers, so much of what we do has been inspired by others. Shultz Photo School is one of the most supportive communities in the industry. Every single month, they have new lessons to help you grow as an artist and inspire.
#13 Filming Life Academy Membership – $75/month
If you ever have the tiniest interest in learning how to create films of your own – you have to check out the Filming Life Academy. Courtney Holmes and her team are fantastic and the membership is worth every penny.
#14 Lenspen Elitepro Cleaning Kit – $28
Keep your lenses and equipment clean with these pro lens pens. These make for a great stocking stuffer for photographers in your life.
#15 Crystal Ball 50mm – $11
If you like creating abstract or artistic photos, a crystal ball is a fun prop to use for some unique photos.
#16 Olive & Rye Scarf Strap – $34
Film makers can benefit from the comfort of a scarf strap and photographers can enjoy the added style. I love my scarf strap from Olive and Rye on Etsy.
